Barbara J. Taylor, 85 years, of Sturgeon Bay, was called home Monday (May 14, 2012) at Ministry Door County Medical Center Emergency Room.
She was born February 11, 1927 in Flint, Michigan the daughter of the late John D. and Irene M. (Glashaw) Ogle. After graduating from LaSalle High School in St. Ignace, Michigan, she received her Bachelor’s degree in education from Northern Michigan University, and later pursued her Masters in Special Education at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. She taught school at Southern Door Schools for 10 years. On June 21, 1957 she married Harry Wayne Taylor at St. Ignace, MI. He preceded her in death on March 28, 2009. She was also married to William James Dolan in June of 1950. He preceded her in death on March 28, 1951.
Barbara was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a member of the retired teachers association, and enjoyed gardening, painting and spending time with her family. Barbara enjoyed a wonderful mother’s day on Sunday before her passing. It was spent with her family and ended at Sunset Park watching the sunset together. She was optimistic against all odds, and tried to put a positive face on everything.
Survivors include her four children, Yvonne (Terry Trepper) Dolan of Sturgeon Bay, and Hammond, Indiana, Margaret (Jim) Buhk, Lisa Taylor both of Sturgeon Bay, John (Becky) Taylor of Daphane, Alabama; son-in-law, Randy LaRue of Chippewa Falls; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Sandy) Buhk, Michael Buhk, Jett LaRue, Kristen Schulz, Matthew (fiance’ Bretta), Catherine, Sarah Taylor.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband; daughter, Laura Taylor LaRue; two brothers, Jay Ogle, William “Bill” Ogle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday (May 19, 2012) at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Konkol OFM as celebrant. Interment will be held this summer at the Straits of Mackinac.
Friends may call at Huehns Funeral Home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. with the procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Memorials may be made in her memory to St. John Bosco School, or Door Community Clinic.
