Deane C. Hagman

U.S. Veteran

Deane C. Hagman, 81 years, of Sturgeon Bay, died Friday evening (June 8, 2012) at Door County Medical Center.

He was born June 12, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of the late Gustav and Florence Elaine (Goodlett) Hagman. He served in the United States Air Force and was discharged in 1954. Following his graduation from Northern Illinois State Teacher’s College 1955, he married Barbara Collin in September of 1955 in DeKalb, Illinois. She preceded him in death on August 5, 2006.

Deane was employed as a kitchen design draftsman for St. Charles Kitchens, St. Charles, Illinois, then for Lyon Metal in Aurora, Illinois. He moved to Door County to take a position of Industrial Arts instructor for the Gibraltar School District.

He enjoyed reading, history, architecture, and woodworking.

Survivors include his five children, Dee (Eric) Paulsen of Sturgeon Bay, Cathie (Dave) Gibbons of Palatine, Illinois, Carin Hagman (Romey Gutierrez Martinez) of Lakewood, CO, Eric (Jeni) Hagman of Sturgeon Bay, Leif (Mandy) Hagman of Sturgeon Bay; seven grandchildren, Nels (Katherine), Annika, Ali, Mike, Karl, Anna and Cyiah. Also surviving, Deane's brother, John (Joan) Hagman of St. Paul, Minnesota and Ephraim; and his sister, Marilyn (Jim) Cushing of Western Springs, Illinois and Ephraim.

Private family services will be held later this summer.

Social Services staff, the staff at Door County Medical Center, caregivers/friends Sarah Charney and Marla Sternard, the folks at the Senior Center, the staff at the Dorchester, and thanks for the help of Erik and Todd Huehns – Huehns Funeral Home. What a blessing to live in such a supportive and caring community.”

Memorials may be given in Deane’s memory to Ministry Fund, a/k/a/ Katie’s Fund at Ministry Door County Medical Center. This fund helps with personal and medical expenses for those in need.
